Skiing possible again with an artificial knee joint?
We of our former patients go skiing again after the successful insertion of an artificial knee joint. However, in addition to good skiing equipment and correct adjustment, you also need to build up your muscles accordingly. You can only go skiing when you feel safe.
When skiing for the first time, you should make sure that the snow conditions are optimal. Please ski an easy piste to start with, so that you can regain the feeling and confidence of skiing with an artificial knee joint.
Jumps, moguls and icy, hard slopes should be avoided. If your thigh muscles are tired, then it's time to take a break or stop.
Here you can find more information on knee operations and artificial knee joints.
