Get a second opinion
Get certainty
If you have any doubts as to whether the treatment recommended by a doctor is really the right one, a second opinion can give you certainty. An additional assessment, taking into account all available treatment methods, helps to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment.
The costs of a second opinion are covered by basic insurance for Swiss patients.
When is it advisable to obtain a second opinion?
Obtaining a second opinion can be particularly advisable in the following situations:
- Uncertainty, concerns or lack of confidence
- Independent assessment of your problem by a specialist
- There is a lack of a clear diagnosis and/or treatment recommendation
- You have been recommended a major operation and want to make sure that there are no alternatives
- You lack relevant information and experience reports on a recommended treatment.
Assessment by an experienced specialist
PD Dr Andreas L. Oberholzer will assess your situation and the proposed treatment and ask about your needs and expectations. This is followed by a detailed examination of the painful region. The documents you bring with you as well as X-ray images or MRI scans are then studied.
This is followed by a detailed discussion with an assessment of the situation and a discussion of the possible conservative therapies (without surgery), but also the various forms of surgical therapy with their advantages and disadvantages.
Additional examinations may be recommended in order to better assess the situation.
